well roy boy and b g you should try the vortex it catches the very fine gold as well as the bigger gold easy to clean up you dont need 3 or 4 different types of mats to do what 1 vortex mat does

I totally agree with you Ken!
I run Vortex in my clean up sluice, highbanker/dredge, and stream sluice. I have seen several differant types of matting in use and vortex wins IMHO I don't know why you wouldn't use it.
in the past years i have made a lot of changes to some of my equip but i also have found that if its set up a certin way there is not much loss if any i m talking maybe 10 or 12 specks in the tailings over 6 to 8 hours of running my banker it also depends on the water flow the angle of drop and the material and how fast you feed the materialit depends on the way equip is set up and how its put togather i have a nugget trap that works very well with my comerical tromel operation we use a 14xio foot of sluice its set up like my banker with very little loss running for 8 hours a day most of the clean ups were from 30 to 33 ounces a 8 hour day of running
Thanks KEN: I did order 24"x48" vortex mat today. This will give several options captioning this Glacier gold. I do check my tailings on every other run so I feel this will give the deciding factor on what will work best. My claim consists of 40 percent of fine. I still have 8 buckets form last year I need to run thru my cube.
I don't know if this matters, But in talking with the Fossicker the other day about mats and he just loves and endorses the vortex matting, It is all he uses for his sluices. for example He said he was on the beach one day and a couple of people where using the cube setup and he asked if he could run their tailing piles from their cube using the his sluice with vortex matting. And he got gold from their tailings, enough of it that he gave it to them. So I suppose it works really good when used the proper way.
royboy i m not into useing a fluid bed to prospect i have great luck with my banker and dredges as well as my comerical tromel operation i have no prob catching all the gold i can put through all of my equipment just useing the vortex matting with 1/2 inch raised expanded metal and riffels the fluid beds do work it a thing of preffence
What type of "fluid bed" did you design?
I can attest to the Vortex matting it works great.
OK, I didn't under stand your "first" post on vortex. I use the gold cube when I do my finale clean up and catches it all. That would be a good idea too.
i m not talking about the vortex plates what i m talking about the same matting used in the gold cubeworks great
This will be the first year aim using them and if the do great ill change it out.
