Hello to all. three days or so ago.Bill and I went out east and north of Randsburg. On the way out,we were talking about how, since its getting warmer,we should be looking for snakes.Well,as we were putting along,I spotted some old mine shafts.Bill and I decieded to go up and metal detect the tailings piles. As I was walking in the lead,I paused a moment, heard a light rattle.what do ya know,a rattle snake about 18 inches from my tennis shoe.of course, being the he-man that I am,I simply..........screamed and yelled, jumped back and generally wussed out.--LOL But,I learnt a lesson. If it had been ten degrees warmer,I would have been bit. So,now, before I go out again,I
at least want a snake bite kit.I prefer to have that and a set of snake proof leggings. So,my message to all of you is,at least have a snake bite kit with you.who knows, the life you save may be yours---Grant
Tennis shoes? I would add high top boots to your list. Mojave Greens are plentiful out by Randsburg and are about as deadly as rattlers get. Ridgecrest has a good hospital stocked with anti-venom if you do get bit. I haven't had to use it, but know someone who has.
LOL--well,I dont know about being a magnet. But,Its far better to spend a minimal amount of money, than to die,or ,spend weeks in a hospital, wishing you had spent the money. But,I ,now, think you have made a wise purchase.better safe than sorry
Hubby and I just bought 2 sets of snake guardz for when we go metal detecting or to morgan monroe in IN. I am a snake magnet. I think they know I am petrified of them
