A little about me

I live in Canyonville, Oregon. I have nine claims, including a 140 acre placer claim on Cow Creek called "Geezer Gulch. Two "The Copper and the L & M Copper lode claims are copper producing, but the Garnets and Rubies are what I dig for there, they are thick. One lode claim "The Cabin Mine" is on Starveout creek, the placer "Lucky Nugget" on Sweat Creek near Days Creek, the lode mines "Yellow Jacket 1, 2, and 3 are gold claims, 3 is a mill site. also getting another 1 mile claim on Seward Creek in Seward, Alaska for this summer.I teach mining, panning, sluicing, dredging, highbanking, hard rock. Also at this time (closed) but I manufacture my own line of Sluice Box's, dredges, and high bankers. With 22 different patent pending and 12 more to get for inventions in the mining industry.Just finished a book out on CD and down loadable at this time called "Shorty's Not So Lost Mines and Treasures of Southern Oregon" a pictorial walk through the mining years of Oregon. Also a CD List of Mines and Quarries in the State Of Oregon with more than 10,000 mines and quarries listed county by county, giving map coordinates and GPS coordinates to each, the material mined and the host rock also last known update to the claim.I have the largest Data base of Mines and Quarries in the State.Well this book is getting a little long so I'll close for now. It's great to be a new member and hope I can contribute to help any and all miners, recreational miners and prospectors.

  • Hi all, well as for having a claim in Oregon, is about the same as California. It is $20.00 for every 20 acres, or assesment of the same. Now if your a VET or a Disabled VET the cost is $10.00 total up to 100 acres, but you have to have a partner for every 20 acre claim. I have 160 acres on Cow Creek outside Riddle Oregon this costs us $70.00 a year. Because one of our owners in the claim is a disabled vet.
As for the book it is at http://www.gophermining.com then about half way down on the right side there is a link to see what the book looks like, also to the Mines and Quarries CD List. The reason I didn't put a link on here is I didn't join to advertise my stuff. But those who find out about it.
    Thanks All
  • Shorty. I have a question for you....here in Calif. to hold my claim (now 40 acres) costs 100 dollars or proof of assesment work to the tune of 1oo dollars, what's the scoop on having a claim in Oregon?
