Ray, that is funny ! but seriously some -albeit tiny- of Mercury evaporates in the room temperature degree. IMHO, Mercury should be stored under water. Being in the desert there is no "room" to start with, just plain burning hot during the day , especially in the Summer !. So imagine burning this nasty stuff without proper tools (retorts) and everyone around gets their share of breathing the dangerous fumes , as the normal practice at these areas !
Quick silver aint super toxic until you stat to burn the Mercury away then it is super toxic , she could pan for many many years but the guy that is burning that stuff aint going to live long plus he will have the benefit of going mad as a Hatter
lol, but she -as most women- make a good panner ! Women -in the past- used to do the household chores, including cleaning food, such as Beans, Peanuts ...etc So they inherited a sharp eyes , that is why , I guess.
Jeron, yes it is . It looks muddy. But what you can't see is the woman applying Mercury (sic) into the concentrate . Amalgamating cons is common at these areas.
