  • Looks awesome as always, Howard! One of these years I'm gonna have to pack-up the family and head out there with you so I can finally get in some REAL prospecting. You always do so well when you head to the creek!

  • Looks Great Howard! Getting the "Elusive Yellow Gold" is always such a treat.

  • Mike not much color on that side I think I will leave those alone  and the local BLM Guy would get a bit cranky about it if I did ! Laughing Here !

  • Howard, I see a couple benches you need to reshape and slope down there on the other side. lol Kinda looks like some spots up around liberty here in wa.

Chris this is the Olney Creek here much tamer than the one you were asking about !

  • Lugnut, left you another vid on your page of the dancing leprechaun claim. Really good chunky stuff comes out of there for a couple weeks each year when the end of summer water is calm.  .5 to .75oz nuggets are not too rare but you can get killed in that water very easily. When you see those big rollers like olney, you want to start by gathering all the melon sized boulders you can and pile in front of them. By then you will have an open spot to dig and they wont creep over and pay you a visit.

If your gonna play in our water here you need to read this. I spent a couple months on the sofa with a torn achilles tendon. Not very long after the boulder I wrote about. It was another one that came up out of a hole and I tore it getting out of the way. Only work with your face looking upstream here.

  • Well that video shows a lot. Thank you for that information. I guess we really need to find a place for my girlfriend and I to go to. Its so hard to get started. hopefully it wont be that bad once things get going

    ty again mike.......

  • Lugnut, Prospectors Plus has a claim up there. Its wild and raw. Not one to bring the fam on.  This is what ours looks like in april and its got the deadly rollin boulders so you need to really be careful. But it has gold and a couple folks have tapped pockets up there. Most come away with flake and flour. I think because its a little morewild than what they were ready for.

  • wow ironic lol. That same creek name is here in WA. its in the gold area we have. maybe the name Olney is old timer code for gold bearing lol.

  • Chris   aka LugNut  this Olney Creek is located in Redding Ca  it goes totally dry in the summer months and almost any one with a pan will be able to find a little gold but don't think a big payday is going to happen there !   Its a great place to learn with easy access.
