  • So Spur your in the Big Bear Mt, Fawn Skin area? I use to go up in that area all the time when I was a youngster... I wish I would have been in to prospecting back then though....

  • Always good to know what your working around I try not to find this kind as much lol but Big Bear mt. Is a Volcano and a lot of the Ore I find is a Solfide some of that is Arsnic I'm getting better at seeing it in the feld although it's had to distinguish from White Fildspar
  • That is not the cinnabar we come accross.Be very careful until you know for sure .I forget the type of arsenic it reminds me of the one with sulfur attached to it,I will look thru my library for the pic.can never be too careful.with what is this types of material.

  • looks like it could be to me Spur....

  • Dennis: it looks like cinnabar, crush it, and put it in a retort. If it's cinabar, you'll get mercury.
  • I dont know. I have never seen natural cinnabar, only the carved things from China and they always have some layer of sealer or how would you say it, an antiquing finish.
