I punch holes in the vertical and carry material down to the river to pan. I tried to detect but there is so much metal junk from the old timers. On the flat ground of the bench, the Chinese used to live here in shacks. Back in those days, Fairplay would'nt let the Chinese live in town so they camped out on this side of the river. There's all kinds of old nails and bits of sheet metal spread out all over the place.
I don't know where Stanley Yankee Fork is but this place is in Fairplay, Park County, about the middle of colorado.

Thanks Keith H. I think I was confused by thinking someone was responding to me (Keith) when they were responding to you (Keith).

Yes the spot I was talking about is on the Yankee Fork, about a mile down stream of the old dredge.

do you drywash here or just detect.
It's similar to a spot up by Stanley ID. You dig in the un-dredged ground next to the tailing piles.
This is the south bench of the River at Fairplay, Co. The ancient undredged alluvial plane which is rich in placer deposits.
nice looking spot. Where is it? Western state somewhere.
