Still 2 feet of ice on the river. Coast guard sent up the big guns to try and break it up. The 2 vessels downriver are 65 foot ice breakers and cant touch it. The vessel closest is the 141 foot ice breaker named "thunder bay" and really struggling to make headway and slowly but surely there is progress. Lived on this river my whole life and never seen anything like it. Last year my first day detecting was April 6....be lucky if I get out by May 6 this year :(
