a new senate bill SB 476 requires EIR for permits if it may have a effect on the environment
and all environmental impacts are understood before regulatory decisions are made. April 8,2013, 3:00pm, in HC C

The hearing will not be on the original language of SB 476 but an amendment to replace the original measure.

This forum has been quiet for way too long......SO,
I want to spread the word that the Oregon legislature and several enviro lawmakers are trying again to stop gold dredging in the state of Oregon. SB 838 will impose a moratorium similar to what California has now and will essentially stop all dredging and motorized equipment usage until all the pro and con information that has been hashed over many times is rehashed again. This will stop dredging until roughly 2018 IF it is passed. We are fighting by sending letters, emails and phone calls to the lawmakers in mass quantities asking for a NO vote on these bad bills. Also, SB 401 is expected to be rewritten to add more waterways to the SCENIC WATERWAYS list which will also curtail all usage of those waterways listed in the bill.
A lot more information on these bills and their sponcers can be found on the Oregon Gold Hunters website. I encourage everyone to read about them and write to the Senators and Representatives to get them to vote NO on their passage into law. If we can stop them here in Oregon, we may just save other states from the same types of bogus legislation and help to possibly overturn already bad legislation in other states that have lost their mining battles.
Good luck !
