  • Arrived at Dusenburg, ....the view is great (if you like desert!) Everything is dry camping the only water is for panning. Have to drive 20-30 miles for anything and the prices are high.

People are very friendly even ran into someone from Vien Mtns May Outing..Gator

    Everything is drywashing here !

I am staying here for the outing and I AM GOING to the PUBLIC hearings on dredging that start on Monday!
    • Well I'm a little late with the response but here goes... Last summer we were on the eastern side of Oregon at the Blue Bucket and we had a fair time. Hard not to enjoy full hook-ups for $6.00 a day! We found no gold there but I enjoyed the relaxation. Dry camped at Burnt River just down the road, it was LDMA and free to camp. Unfortunately the creek was being washed out by the release of water from a dam up higher and we only got some small but pretty, orange colored gold. Very small amount but luck is luck. I'm just happy with the fact that my dog, after spotting a deer and chasing after it into the water, survived being washed a mile downstream! Scared me to death!
    • I've been to Burnt river and Blue Bucket also but i liked Burnt River better. The caretaker showed some areas cross the river that where pretty good. Then up cave creek was even better. I'am going back first thing this year. All the finds looked real red in the sun. I was told it's because of all the iron. I you go again give shout and may be we can hook up. Thanks and God Bless.

  • I have now been to three camps and still find myself coming back to Vein Mt. John and Abby always seem to put on a great outting. I do have to say I have not been to other outting yet but Julie and I have plans to try and make a few this year. I know people make fun of the gold at Vein Mt but for me it not just the gold. I think the camp is nice and we always seem to meet very nice people when we are here. I have made some great friend there.
  • Athens Mi. It is primitive, the gold is little, and it is quiet and beautiful! and then Vein Mt. and we will probably check out the one in SC on our way through this season..... and then down to Loud. So let us know how you find Stanton and Dusenburg.... maybe we will head that way also......... lol. Keep in touch!
    • Vein mt is a nice camp. I like Oconee, it is primitive. A great stream, with lots of exposed bedrock. The loud mine has a great clubhouse, with satellite tv and big kitchen. This is great for my 17 year old daughter, who isn't that interested in prospecting.           Jim
  • As of the present I would have to say Vien Mtn to be favorite. I have not had the opportunity to visit any other....but as time goes by I may have to change my mind....so we will see
