The progress on starting a Chapter here, in Northwestern New Mexico is going along great. Albuquerque will have a Chapter soon, as well. GPANM is a albuquerque prospecting club with lots of members, they have meetings on 3rd thursdays of each month, they also have access to gold claims the the GPAA doesnt. Do some research on placer gold found here in new mexico and you should get about 6 known areas for gold like Mt. Baldy area, Hillsboro area, Lincoln Forest areas, Silver City areas, Red River and Hopewell lake areas. Most is BLM or Forest land so you can openly pan and sluice in water with permission from district ranger stations. Private claims usually belong to clubs like the GPANM, they have local claims around Albuquerque, were I find decent gold pickers, poop and fines. GPAA has a few claims in NM but not alot of info on them...hope this helps a little...chow
