Family and I are heading to Bear River in Colfax , ca. for the first time this weekend. We usually go to mineral bar campgrounds on the American River and head south from the bridge 30 minutes. Now we are going to go to bear River for the first time. does anybody have any ideas, is it better to go up river from Rollings lake or down river from Rollings lake! I'm not asking for secrets however.....!Thanks for reading and taking time to reply back.
I do occasionally go under the bridge above Rollins but it's hit and miss there. Occasionally it concentrates in the bar just above the bridge and can make for a bit of fun but other times its poor
Wow is it really worth it then, Maybe I'll go to yankee road
Or do u have any spontaneous suggestions on prospecting around there .
We go to mineral bar all the time!
Just up from the campground under the overhead power lines, or just above the public parking area on the gravel bar about 100-200 yards, or just below the public parking area, in the closed campground area. Stay to the inside in all these areas. Good Luck!

Do Not cross the river, the other side is all private land.
