THE ONLY THING IS I DONT KNOW WERE TO GO OR FOR THAT FACT HOW TO GET PERMISSION IF THEY ARE ON PRIVITE PROPERTY?I LIVE IN CITRUS HEIGHTS CA. AND I AM WITH IN 40 TO 50 MINS FROM PRIME GOLD HARD ROCK MINING. IN EL DORADO/PLACER/AMADOR COUNTY.. CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIGURE A WAY TO FIND SOME. I HAVE BEEN ON THE BLM SITE AND I DONT UNDERSTAND THERE MAPING SYSTEM SO THATS A ISSUE? ANYWAY IF YOU CAN HELP LET ME KNOW.FRED / SCORPIOTOYOUP.S. THE REASON I WANT TO GO , IS FOR THE PURE FUN OF IT, BUT ALSO TO VIDEO TAPE AND EXSPLORE PLUS POST ON YOU TUBE AND HERE. THANKS!!!
OK, for some reason the link did not paste, it picked up the wrong link, I hate computers. Anyway check www.lowes.com search for "surefire". There is 2 versions, the aluminum and plastic
Fred, I will look into the primary light as the ones I am familiar with are designed for underwater use, and are very expensive. I will get back to you on that, but check out what I think would be the best backup light. There is a cheaper version that is plastic, but if dropped, it could break. http://tin.er.usgs.gov/mrds/find-mrds.php These babies are bright! My wife carries one in her purse all the time as they are actually considered to be "tactical". Shine it in an attackers eyes and all he sees is spots while you run away LOL.
thanks mark and a wounderfull tip on the rope idea, i had planed on useing white chalk to mark the side wall with but i like the rope idea better. any suggestines on how to light up the mine? i tried to exsplore one mine here but only went a few yards becouse of poor lighting and i could not film it with my video camera? i have had tips on "led " head lamps that go around your head but i would need more light then that, i wanted to use a colmans battery powered lamp as well? some one suggested a gas lamp and i all most laughed out load becouse all i could see is a big boom! if i hit a low air area and there is natual gas in the air...lol thanks for the help!
Fred, Just a tip but you can go to this website, http://tin.er.usgs.gov/mrds/find-mrds.php Enter the state of California in the "located in box", Choose gold as the commodity, then hit the search button. When the results come back, there will be a pinkish/orange box where you can choose google earth. You will then have a .kml file which you can double click on to open the locations in Google Earth. Of course you must have GE installed. When you leave GE, you will be asked if you want to save the places in the temp. folder, tell it yes and then the locations can be checked or unchecked at anytime.
Enjoy!
Like everyone else has said, don't go alone! Make sure someone is outside, have a backup for your backup flashlight. Use a reel of line like a cave diver or wreck diver would use for penetrating underwater wrecks and caves. Worse case scenario, you can follow it out without light, or searchers can find you easier.
