Well, the rain finally ended for a while. We made it to the stream and ran the sluice for a while. I have not cleaned it out yet, as it started raining yet again. We had to wait for the level of the streams to go down, but finally they did. I am unsure of whether or not we found any gold. The funny thing is; we went out mushrooming and decided to pan some dirt where we go. We found gold!!! (We have found gold in three places less than ten miles from home!) Not a lot mind you, but enough that it may be profitable to do it on a larger scale if we can get the permission of the land owner! Unfortunately, here in the lower part of Michigan, all of the gold has been put here by the glaciers of the last Ice Age. This means that we cannot even go across the section and be sure that there will be gold in the same ridge line that we found this on. I am hoping that we will be going either to the U.P. this summer, or somewhere where the gold is more likely to be found. I am not sure if we will make it out west again this year, but maybe. Meanwhile, we will keep searching here and hope for the Mother Lode !!!!!
