Working a gravel bar at Olney Creek I can move less than than a couple of feet and make a major differents in how much gold I recover. This year I have started to use a low end Metal Detector, a Garret Ace 250 to find signals even if its weak it points to pockets that have been more productive to dig !
The false bed rock under this gravel bar has many furrows and bowles that collected fine gold But where are they ?
I had this Machine just gathering dust but on a Gravel bar even if its picking up lead the lead will be in a pocket and gold collects there also !
So I have been digging on any signals of coarse high end signals would be best !
So the Bottom Line is When Your Running Quanity, Quality is still Important !!!
And When You find Gold KEEP DIGGING !!!!

Dennis the valley floor at the Hill is all bed rock some places the dirt maybe 10 foot deep in other spots the bedrock juts up to 10 foot above the floor level some quartz veins but thos have been unproductive for me so what I have been recovering is what has been washed from the mountain side above there probably is still deposits up there but it wouldn't be as concentrated as whats below the valley floor acted as a giant sluice !
Nice Post Howard, I Have a Question though, Most of all that area was Hydro Mined and what you are diging up is Tailings of thhat efect corect, My question is is the Gold should be in a thin line of the Efects of them few Years I understand you are looking for the pockets of Gold but Can you Dig to Deep and pass the Gold Line ?
