Lynx Creek and A GPAA Claim over the weekend

The Family and I went to Lynx Creek Ruins for some panning very nice lake and creek and we did find the yellow stuff in almost every pan. Wife found some nice flakes in her first pan,my son also found some in (his spot) along with a few crawfish. We had a great trip. Then we went to a GPAA claim close by and to my surpise found gold after a few pans (very chunky little pieces).Bought back some cons from there I'm going through at home in my Blue Bowl and mini sluice I'll up date with pics later."Leave it like you found it and find it like you left it."RobertPoint Blank,TX

  • We tried to MD but could not get Ground Balanced too many hot rocks. In one of my pics you can see the tailing piles.
  • yep, will find alot of mercury.
most of the time on the upper side of the dam though.
I'm not sure where they had the mill at, I do know way back they had some big dredges moving along the creek. thats why they have the set aside areas to put back the native vegitation mostly where they dredged the creek realy wide. left alot of tailing piles.
those are a good place to md i have heard.
  • I clean my cons and found a few good specks and some fines. Did they use mercury on Lynx Creek.? Because I found what looks like gold covered in mecury, it's not lead. Also cleaned my cons from Soldier Boy and Double JJ which had lots of lead in them with a few good flakes.

  • You might want to talk to jeff at a&b prospecting on 69. he can tell ya about some places along the creek.
A popular spot is down banimine road, places to camp and alot of room to pan.
Water running in the creek now.
also up at the former cc camp is some bedrock to dig around.
I talked to some folks down at the ruins over the weekend and they found some fair flakes.
    good luck Rick
  • They don't have anything list at the store about panning at all. Best thing is to look up online and find more info and there's a map also of the areas. Good Luck

  • Yep, been that way a long time. I have been out there quite a bit.
It seems to be a favorite place for trash dumping with it's easy acsess.
The area still has gold and If you are willing to spend some time at it you can find decent coler.
I was told that one guy found a 1 oz nugget out there. don't know if it was md or what.
I hope that the water comes back soon with the monsoons. I like the area as I can get my toyhauler in there to camp.
I am going to stop by this weekend and take a look. thanks for the info.

  • Yes , thats the two I went to water is there, flow is slow and bugs are bad. Have you ever been to them before if so has it always had all the trash everywhere?
  • I was up there this morning, quite a few friendly folks. I did a few shovels and got some flakes.
It is a great place to pan.
What claim did you visit? closest I can think of would be soldier boy or double jj. both not bad , if those were the claims, was there water flowing?
I am going up this weekend to prospect but have not decided which place to go.
