Frist Cali Prospect

So, today I went out in search of some yeller stuff and came up empty handed. I was not trying to spend the entire day driving so I stayed close. I went to Stevens Creek. Looked very promising, but pan after pan, throughout the entire hike, no yeller!

What we did find was some great memories, and places to take the dog for a hike! Got some good pic's too. Stevens Creek is a great place for hiking, but not for gold prospecting. Oh yeah, if you ever go there go past the first parking area, there is literally nothing there and it is the most likely place for mountain loins and rattler's [great habitat (snakes), and ambushing (mountain loins)]. That was our first stop and my girlfriend would not stop jumping at every noise lol.

    If I had a nickel for every time I got skunked in new areas, I'd be rich :) My dad use to have a saying when we would go fishing and fail to land a lunker that went something like, "That's why they call it 'fishing' and not 'catching' ".

    Sounds like you had a great day of prospecting none the less!

    I found a few more specks here and a couple new spots. We are heading to Ohio this Friday and I'll be there till after Labor Day. I'll be at the Gold Rush Days at the Swank Claim and I can't wait!! I'm still working on making my dredge. We are staying at my brother in laws house that has a gold bearing stream next to them. My nephew now has gold fever like the rest of us. LOL Don't be discouraged, your in the 'land of plenty' I'm sure you'll find something soon.

    Sometimes you find it, sometimes you don't, it's the fun you have that keeps you searchin' though, remember that, and you'll find it eventually.

    Thanks Dave! Yea I have talked with others, its just a long drive for me to get to the KNOWN good locals lol. How is everything back in PA?

    You'll find it somewhere out there I'm sure. Just do alittle research and talk to others and I'm sure you'll be finding gold before you know it. Good luck!!
