I would like to stop at the Crater Of Diamonds in Arkansas. Has anyone been there and if yes, can you share a few tips? I saw a segment on gpaa with Tom Massey. I would like to spend a few days there before heading further west. Hope you can help me with this.

I know how hard they are to find. I saw a thread on gpaa site. Something to do with a pole used as a sounder of some type and then you dig and classify.. then you flip it and look. (My best recolection). I also know you can go up above and find crystals. Just want some stories to tell. Thanks for your reply..

If you are plaining to stay there at the park in a motor home or tent you need to call ahead of time to
make reservation. Can only be done by credit card. They can be filled up due to the Snow Birds during
the colder months. You can get every thing you need to dig and screen with there. There are other
places you can stay at with an RV that are close if they are full. Don't forget Diamonds are even more
rare than Gold or an honest used car salesman.
Its fun, muddy, great for kids. not too expensive, they have material or you can dig. There are alot of videos on you tube. If you are going to go for a few weeks, thing find a secluded place that looks less touched and dig. We spent 3 days and had a great time. Found a few small diamonds and other stuff. bring buckets and shovels and classifiers. All you need.
