I was inspected by a BLM Ranger last week..No fine but I had to make changes to my 5"..From what he told me, on BLM land in Ca you have to have no more than a 4" nozzle or you have to file a plan of operation!!!! More rulls we do not know??? He had his Off. send the regs and it is there!!!They say small scale is 4" or less
We run into the same thing here in Colorado. There is a 4" max for nozzle size on the Arkansas River. I know several people running 5" units with a 4" ring reducer welded on the front. Makes for a dirt moving machine that nearly never clogs, not all that bad an idea. What hurts more is horsepowere restrictions and pump intake size restrictions. these vary from area to area. 4 or 5 inch nozzle makes no difference if you can't run a pump big enough to handle it. For your own claims, you just go through the hoops and put in a plan of operations, but for public areas and unclaimed spots, the ball is in their court.
