i would make a version of ar and then do a stinous test on it as the stinous strips will reveal what it might be by the color that it changes into . ie yellow is gold blue silver purple platinum etc .
what is the possibility of this coming from meteorite shower, there has been rumors of that occurring in this area and it does look like some type of slag with a porous surface, but not magnetic
I was not in the water; however, there is an old well close by, this may have been dynamited out of the well many years ago. Well share better picture of some of the fragments I found later. I live in South Carolina

you might take it to a local museum or collage to have them look at it
