Mystery metal

I found this piece on a creek in Utah county a couple years ago just wanting to test out my panning skills after I first gained serious interest in prospecting. Could this be a small meteorite?

  • Doesn't show on my detector and it is not magnetic. It's definately in some state of oxidation.
  • Have you ran a metal detector over it? If comes up hot rock, might be meteorite. Looks like copper to me. Does it come up cent/dime on M/D? Might be a native copper nugget? Not as valuable as gold, but as cool!!

  • This piece has some interesting features on this side with the two points on each side with a small horizontal pit in the center. The other side is more smooth and rounded. Beats me!
