  • Something is missing in them pans.....wheres the color at???  lol..oh wait..mine has no color in it right now....lol

  • Thanks Lew,I will do so. I have used some sand paper, but water is still pooling up.

  • good luck with the new pans dusty dont forget to cure them .put gravel in them and slosh it around to scatch the inside of the pans.it will help hole the gold especially the fine gold . again good luck my young friend

  • Thanks John. I don't know where there has been any gold found here. Just maybe I will be the first one in this county  to find some. I will try really hard on not to get discouraged. Yes I want to find gold, but if I don't find some right now,I'm still learning about geology, science the outdoors etc. When I get older and can travel,Here I come Dennis,Maurice and my other friends.

  • Seek gold and you will find it, don't get discouraged if you don't find much at first. The more you do it the better you will get at it. Look for gold where it has been found before. Good luck and have fun.

  • That Jobe 1849 pan is a really good finish pan for just starting out. Will keep you from losing gold while your learning the moves and how much water and how much force. Maurice has a heart of gold helping out with the right gear. Remember when your separating the black sand from extra fine and flour you keep your pan bottom at 22 degrees and use differing amounts of water force to wash the sands away. You tip it beyond 35 and at 45 degrees and you will lose your flour and just keep the larger stuff so watch your angle. Go slow and let the water do the work.

  • Your welcome Maurice. I just know you will find some gold with that. Dad always says think positive and never stop believing . I always seem to miss you on here. Have a good day.

  • I bet you will find a LOT of gold. You are more then welcome Dusty! Thank you for the wooden nickel good luck piece. I will most certainly carry it with me prospecting

  • Thanks Guys. This is all great info for me.

  • When I started panning years ago, a wise old prospector told me that if you think it might be gold, it's not.  Once you've seen gold in your pan, you'll always know  it's gold.  (I still think I see gold from time to time)
