Rattlers are kinda an enigma. On the one hand, they make a great hatband and snake steaks, and the rattlers make a great set of earrings for the ladies with the huavos to wear them, and on the other hand, they are a timid reptile, normally shirking off in to the shadows before you even know they are there. They only strike if you corner them and threaten their very existence. I know a woman who as a child fell in to a wash with a snake pit (non poisonous), but hundreds coiling about, and to this day (decades) she can't even LOOK at a picture of a snake without going in to a panic attack! LOL. Not funny, but funny just-the-same.
