The damper is specifically located there because the aluminum bracket that I screwed a rubber roof remnant to, just happens to be the right width to fit securely between the screws used to attach the stream sluice extention to the highbanker. I can honestly say that wasn't planned, it just happened. So without clamps or screws, that's where it goes. I usually run slightly less pitch to the extention as well, so not only are there 4 different mats but a change in velocity as well. Hence the incremental processing. LOL. If it's not caught up top, its bound to be caught down below. At least I hope!
Your set up sounds cool. Very long! Any more extentions and you and Travis Quirk could probably pan cons while someone fed the machine. Ha-Ha! BTW - I hear ya about the Vortex crowd. I say, whatever works for you and you like personally.
MDV - No, the legs were made for me at a machine shop. The feet are 6"x 6". A bit larger I think than Gold Hog. They do not sink in the mud, which was the goal. Also, looking at the new Gold Hog "Raptor", I would say mine more closely resembles it than the "Excavator", especially in dimentions. I do use G.H. matting. UR, Razorback, Scrubber and Downdraft. I do check tailings occasionally. So far I'm pleased with the capture rate.
Henry - Any longer and I could pan out the cons at home while running the banker at the creek. LOL! Normally, I don't have my stream sluice attached. Each unit is 48". This day, I didn't want to do a clean out until the end of the day, so I attached the extension. Ran all day and still room for mor cons in the mat. Took home about a quart jar full.
