  • "Dug?" you ask - "I wish" is about all I can say.  As I tried to explain in the general comment I left for the group earlier today, as easily as my attitude might allow me to picture myself as a prospector or detectorist, it will need to wait for another life in which I do not require wheelchair accessibility in my choice of prospecting sites.

Now, I do a lot of ID work, attributing the Roman coins dug by a major detectorist-holiday outfitter group in Britain, and so, given the subjective nature of "treasure", I do consider my situation to fall somewhere within the shared territory of an imaginary Venn diagram of the interests of prospectors, detectorists and stay-at-home collectors - or at least of those stay-at-home collectors of limited enough resources to need to work their sources like a detectorist or prospector hunting for the undiscovered "nuggets" while depending upon lucky happenstance.  Although I will, therefore, have to participate in the sort of active treasure hunting to which members of the group may be accustomed on a strictly vicarious level,  what I also said was that although I may have little else to offer a group of this specific nature, in the event that anyone ever has coin questions, I have 50+ years of experience in that field and am glad to share what I know.

I put up this photo because I figured it was likely to be some easily accessible shared territory for appreciation - it is something I consider to have been a lucky find at an auction.

Thanks to everyone who has made me feel welcome with their greetings.
