Weird April fools metal detecting find

I took my kids to the playground and took my metal detector along to kick up the wood chips and found these anti tank dummy mines. What the heck would someone be burying these in a playground for and how would they have known I would be digging them up on April fools? They must have been there for a while. WTH?
