Mdv I built a gravity pump but have not been able to try it out thanks to the calif Drought not sure what the Laws would be on using one, is it a Highbanker using a pound, a dredge, a sluice with a boiler box? Going Hard Rock Mining it's just easer lol
I once did a test to see how much gold you loose due to not rinsing off your larger rocks. I classified about 4 buckets of dry material with a 1/4" screen and saved the "discard" rock on a blue tarp. I ran the 4 buckets of classified material and cleaned up. I then ran all the rocks that did not pass through the classifier and did a second clean up. One thing I should say, is that my system washed the larger rocks pretty well. Even the ones people don't normally put into their highbankers.
I didn't weigh the gold, but off hand I would say that I got about 1/8 to 1/4 as much gold from the rocks as I did from the classified material. So you are loosing some gold. I would guess that if you only classified down to 1/2" that you would get a substantial improvement.
