    If it picks out easy and is flaky dusty its probably mica.. keep digging if it is.. plenty of gold and mica as well as pyrite in VA all in the same spots

    It looks like gold to me, but as Jon says, get a photo of it in sunlight. Is this a VA rock?

    It stays golden. Dont really sparkle.

    It looks like gold to me. Is this rock yours or one you saw somewhere? You can always get it in the sunlight and see if it just sparkles like glitter or actually stays yellow in the shade. Or...CRUSH some of it!
