Last year the bucket classifier beat me to death! I went home sore and tired from filling buckets, spinning-rocking and shaking screens, and panning 'till my arms fell off. I thought of a way to make my prospecting a much more pleasurable experience and want to give the idea to you as open source.http://mlaine.homeip.net/Trom/Trom

  • yea I almost went to the next size smaller mesh  but  this was a trial to work out all the bugs to build my final, so far I only wanna make just a couple minor changes.

  • Very Clean and affordable !!!

  • Alan, I thought about it's over production when using a sluice.  It's a huge plus when using a drywasher.  That's why I invested a little time and thought into classifying down to 1/4"- or 1/8"- by using supplemental wrap around screens which can quickly be added to slow the amount of useless overburden falling into the sluice.    It's works good  ........ economical.  In case you haven't seen the video on quick mesh/screen changes it's posted on the trommel site.         https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5bCkBog2aU&feature=youtu.be  Your idea of a larger sluice is a good way to go and may produce more gold in the vile.    :-)

  • LOL problem is it works way too good, I gotta build a bigger sluice now to handle my production without over loading the riffles, right now i have to pace my self.

  • Coffee cans and motorized trommel over a sluice!  What great ideas ......... can't wait to see the pics.  This is ingenuity at it's best.  Glad you could use the idea.

    Mike

  • I am also working on one but mine is a lot smaller made from coffie cans. Thanks for the great idea
  • I made me a trommel for over my power sluice by modifying your design, "WORKED LIKE A CHAMP " this weekend I will post pics later, i think i will motorize it soon  thanks again for the inspiration.

  • Mike,

Thanks for the link. Saved it to my favorites so I can give it a try when I get the time. Hope it helps ya find lots of gold.:)

  • Durant,

I have as much fun fabricating DIY tools as I do finding gold.  Take your time and do it right.  You'll admire your work and the rewards are as good as gold.  You'll be finding gold in no time .................. cheers.

  • Mike this is realy nice, but the one Im building is over 1/2 ways done. All I have to is to put on the wheel or rollers the screen  and the bottom part of the hopper the litte time I get to work on it it may take one more week to finish it I hope.
