it was literally side of the road ;) just a little ways back from the moose crossings sign. I want to try some panning south of there the next time I go up. a lot of the area has claims but some are abandoned there are online claimmaps of the area now so makes it easier not to step on anybodies toes, our(Canadian) prospecting laws are a little more forgiving here in Canada as far as having to get permission from the landowner to check out property for minerals as long as you have your prospecting licence.
I Hear that some Loads can Hold upto 10 oz per ton, Side of the road was it Privet Property? or was it Publick like a Bridge, or mabie blm ? Not sure what the Laws are there but I Could Dig a Ton of Ore and Fill My Hole in a Day for 5 Oz . lol
