oh good point Dave, if that's true then it is gold. I didn't pick that rock up, it was given to me by the niece of another rock hound. guess I'll have to crush it to find out what she saw in it.
Ok I'm no expert so correct me if I'm wrong. But a fast and easy way of telling if its gold or pyrite. Gold will still look gold in a shadow as it does in direct lite and pyrite will look brown or some other dark color but not gold.
