  • Hey Paul! Thanks for the great info and comment. As a member of the GPAA, I will check that out for sure! Also the marks on the Blue Bowl. I made some but, I just guessed the best I could. But, I have it all figured out as to rotation speed.

  • brother joseph if you have one of the mciro sluices from the gpaa with the ribbed mat you like that better under the bowl especially on finer meshes
  • if you pause his vid on the good lab and then measure across the letters on the bowl and then go from the top edge down and read his marks you can copy them. the printed leters on the bowl wont change from one bowl to the other :). that is what I did to cheat and was able to you his marks on the gold lab vid. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k72pe54VgqQ

I like both personally what I like about the wheel is that I can run quicksilver in it if needed .

  • LOL John! I don't much care for slow either!! That's why I work to perfect it. One day I want to get a spiral wheel as well.

  • Thanks brother Joe for sharing your knowledge on this matter.its always better to hear folks opinion on such a crucial part of any operation.

I think you are probably right as I don't have the time or the  patients to run slow ,lol most folks love the clean up part of there prospecting, butt I prefer to dredge.yes I love seeing the end result butt I'm at my happiest when I'm in the water and after 5years dredging ,first with a 2 and now my 4 witch is running a 3 inch set up (yep I didn't know that at the time) lol maybe a wheel will indeed be the answer and make this whole clean up part a bitty more fun and capture that super fine gold .

    Thanks again Bro Joe

  • I know two people who have the spiral wheel. From what I understand, they work well. As will all types of processing, you want Jet-Dry for sure to keep that fine gold from floating. Also, with the spiral wheel, just as with the blue bowl, the correct set up is a must. For the blue bowl, perfectly level. For the spiral wheel, the correct angle.

One of the people I know with the spiral wheel runs a 5gal bucket of material "Not Cons" in about 5 to 8 min. with it.

For the blue bowl with fine gold, see my video's "Blue Bowl Mod & Blue Bowl Mod In Operation." I think you already watched them.

    The vibration works well.

As for size "If you talking about blue bowl," I classify my material down to 20, 30, 50 & 100 mesh before running. I need to get some finer mesh classifiers as well.

It's all about your water pressure / speed in the bowl. The larger the mesh, the faster the rotation. The finer the mesh, the slower the rotation.

Also, check out a video on You Tube called "Gold Lab." That's where I got the idea for vibration. Also, you will see that he has marks on the inside of the bowl which helps. Not suggesting you buy his set up unless you have money to spare. Just give you ideas for a good set up if you choose the blue bowl.

Seems to me, the spiral wheel would be better, as it would get through your cons quicker. But, keep in mind, I have never run one myself. I have however seen it in operation.

    Hope this helps Brother.

  • Hey bro Joe,have you ever tried a spiral wheel.and what size of material can you run through the bowl.im at a crossroads,I have a power of fine cons and I know I'm missing a lot of the finer gold . being across the pond makes any purchase a costly bet .it's always better getting a second opinion..

Cheers bro Joe looking forward to your clean up video

  • Thanks John! The blue bowl process is a bit slow, but perfected and sped up a bit over time. Classification is a must.

  • Nice set up you have there bro joe.im thinking of getting a blue bowl or a spiral wheel?? still undecided
