  • Hiya Sandy! Most of the outings that the current chapter in MI holds is in the lower peninsula. The last 2 years we have held an outing at Muskallonge State Park near Newberry, MI in the UP. This year's outings have wrapped up with our last outing in West Branch, MI just this past weekend. We've generally held an outing at the LDMA Athens Camp in Athens, MI once a year pretty much since the camp came into existence. Most of the glacial gold in the Lower P is generally located in the glacial Grand River Channel. On the 1982 Quaternary Map it starts in the east side of the state near Saginaw and trends west/southwest to Lake Michigan. I'm getting off point here, sorry. The Chapter wont be holding another outing until 2014 as hunting season and winter will be soon upon us. The easiest way to keep up with what we will be doing is checking out www.michgpaa.com. At this moment, I've not updated the site to reflect a couple changes in the board or taken down the 2013 schedule. On the homepage I have a button that will take ya to the rules for recreational prospecting set forth by the DNR. If ya have more questions, dont hesitate to ask as there are many Michigan gold grubbers here that can help you on your adventure to slake the Fever!
