  • Welcome!

  • Hi Terry,
Just moved down to Prescott after 32 years in Alaska, I moved there from Phoenix in 1980. Was into recreational prospecting back then but didn't do too much of it In Alaska. Worked as a remote river guide for fishing and video shooter for Discovery and other local outfits.
I still work up there a month at a time for the time being but love getting back to Yavapai County when I'm off work.
Joined RR, GPAA and a couple others and enjoy working the Stanton area.
  • Hello everyone!!!  I'm a full time Arizona State resident and have been since about 1989.  I started prospecting here sometime around 1992, with a few gold pans, pick, shovel, and Gold Buddy recirculating sluice, along with an antique metal detector that just barely worked.  Over the years I've found about an ounce total, so I'm far from being a successful miner - the only REAL gold I have, is in the form of equipment, and will likely never have this hobby/employment venture pay for the equipment costs, no less the thousands of hours of extreme hard labor, and surviving the weather extremes here in AZ while prospecting.  It's IN my blood to prospect, and a definite plus to be out in areas where the old timers and their families before me, went through MUCH harder trials and tribulations, with similar hopes and dreams of one day finding the "motherlode".   The weather's getting to be a bit nicer here, so I'm gearing up to get back out there with the AZ Air Sluice I built from scratch last year, to get that EXTREMELY fine flour gold with a dry process.  I've got 3 blowers so if anyone would be interested in building one of these air sluices, or intrested in me building one for you, let me know.  The blowers are really hard to find for these dry sluices, so if you only want a blower or blowers to build more than one, it's first come first served.  I'll let loose of them AT MY COST - sorry I can't afford to give them away.  Any GPAA members out there wanting to meet up to go to one of the MANY local claims before it gets HOT,  I'd love to hear from, and get going with to get some of that shiney yellow stuff in our pans and pokes.  As a general FYI,  I no longer live in Mesa - the trailer park legally stole my mobile home away from me, so I'm living here in Sun City with my gf.  Take care and HAPPY SAFE PROSPECTING to ALL!!!

Remembering Les Bender

It is amazing to me that Les is gone for two-years now. I met him in 2007, and like most people, took an instant liking to him. Les Bender taught me a lot about business, gold, and gold prospecting. He also taught me a lot about Texas Hold ‘Em at the Arrowhead Bar every Friday night! I miss those twinkling blue eyes.   Ormall Lester Bender Jr. October 7, 1934 - September 17, 2010. Rest in peace Les.   Childhood mining adventure began lifelong fascination Wickenburg Sun, July 19, 2006By Patti…
