    If you can scratch it with a stainless steel knife, it ain't jade.  Try your fingernail first, if it scratches, than it probably IS soapstone (talc).

    I believe jade would be semi transparent almost opalescent. Interesting nevertheless.

    How can i Find out? I was thinking about bleaching it to see if it stays green somone was saying that there is jade in nevada desert

    Is the color on this rock something organic? It's not algae or lichen on the surface?
