Nov.3 South Fork Snoqualamie

Well I blew it prospecting my great spot lol. Brought out 3 gal of sluice concentrate the gave up 26 pans just like this one. I panned 5 of them, all about the same. I had marked the bank out in my book as "1-4,3-1, =D" for the test pan. which was one 4mm flake, three 1mm flake and an equal volume of extra fine and dust. Apparently i got the one 4mm in the whole bar on my test pan lol. Everything was .5 to 1mm and matched for dust. Was hoping for jewelry flakes but it is what it is.

  • Its the days that all you find is dust that makes the days with pickers so much fun !

  • Yeah Howard, out of those 26 dumps from the concentrator there is an astounding number of pieces of gold. well into the thousands.  If I was a cockroach, or beetle..... I would be rich lol

  • Well Mike it is a nice Dime     Laughing Here      We have all had runs like that just a week ago I came home with just 4 flakes sampling a new Creek !

  • If you lose that map anyone who finds it will think your just plain nuts lol. I really felt it was going to be a strong dig, because I wasn't even to the end of the shovel blade deep and found that big flake. I covered over the spot and didn't dig more test holes. That was my bad or I would have expected what I got instead of more.

  • It Is What It Is.. But I for one can say I learnd a new way to mark my maps...
