  • Most setups I've seen is a large jaw crusher to take the bigger stuff (6 or 8 inch) and crush it down to about 14" to 1/2" and then if one has a conveyor, it moves the crushed rock to the impact mill which pulverized down to coarse powder, and then one needs to feed it to a ball or rod mill if they want the 500 mesh.  For me,  a demolition hammer breaks up the big pieces pretty quickly to feed.   At my age I probably can't do much more than a yard per day, so it's small scale for me, but hey, if it's running 1/2 oz per ton, I might get 5/8 oz per day which is fine with me!

If you're hauling the stuff home, a compressor with a small demo hammer or even an air chisel will break those rocks up.  If in the field, you need an electric demo hammer with a generator.

  • WoW 2" I thought these things were suppose to save work lol by the Time it is that Small its ready for the Ball Mill. I've seen one that said it could handle 6'' but I think it could get stuck in the feed tube, I'm trying to figure out the Best way to Crush Productively  2960238707?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

  • @Spur, actually the one in the picture I redesigned the base.  I was getting too much vibration out of it, but it worked well.  I switched to a 3 inch feed, since (with any crusher of this type) 2" is probably the largest that should be run.  It will handle any ore.  Since I have a screened bottom output,  anything above the screen size will remain in the crusher.  As rock is fed in, it continues to "stir" up the larger stuff and it gets pulverized again and again until it falls through the screen in to the catch pan.   I have not had a chance to take the new one out yet.  Gotta rebuild my throttle body on the truck.  Don't want to get stranded! LOL

  • How is this thing working out for you? It has a 4" feed tube, What kind of Rock are you polverizing, Do you Have any pic's of your Ore ??
  • Hi Durant... THAT would be nice to find!  That crusher weighs 120 lbs, and don't know what the generator weighs but the hoist if handy to lift those things up there by myself.  Some people take the cable crank off and put a remote winch on it.  I guess that would be easier, but the crank works fine for me for what little time I use it.

  • Are you wishing to get a nugget so big that you need a hoist and if you do find one that big I will come and help and loud it.

  • I got loaded up to give the Crazycrusher Impact Mill a test run (read about it on my blog page), I need a trailer!  LOL  some stuff I had to pack in the front seat as I normally take everything I could possibly need when going out, but guess what I forgot!  Duh, my friggin gold pans and screens!  The most important thing!
