When I saw how you have the slope set up it reminds me of my Keene 2 1/2" highbanker dredge combo's pitch, That set-up works Great!! I always like to have alot of pitch on my 4' Keene sluice, (way more than most people use) when I'm running my overburden before I start taking the bedrock apart and sniping.. The gold that's in the overburden is always a Bonus
15 degrees is probably the least slope. It depends on if the materials are damp or bone dry. Even in the desert it could be hot and sunny and 3 weeks after a rain and get down just a foot and run in to damp materials. They also suggest spreading out the dirt on tarps to let it dry out for a day. Who has time for that? I sold my DW and opted for a recirculating sluice and gold cube. Yeah, I have to haul 50 gallons of water but I think the outcome is better. BTW, it's a GREAT picture! I viewed it full size and then some! so sharp.
Yeah, I'm all in favor of better toys... may need a better pocketbook first. Mini excavator sounds good, or how about a mini-me?
Keene recommends that the recovery box be set to a pitch of 15 degrees, then run the drywasher and see how material is flowing over riffles in the tray. I was setting up and had not accomplished this when I took the picture, but it is fairly close.
@blueduck, I keep looking at those mini-escavators sold by harbor freight and grainger, little bucket one seat and towable, but hey, if it will dig down 4 feet and trench in an hour what a man can do it 2 or 3 days, it might be worth the money. A LOT cheaper than a cheap new car.
ya need a mini excavator in there! have it dig for an hour and ya would be set for a week! well maybe a day or three.... but then i spose the experience wouldnt be the same... perty area though it looks like
If you did find Hoffa, you'd be world famous, and a book deal, and movie deal! That way you can continue to prospect but with better toys and just do it for the fun, even if you don't find anything!
Oh, was going to say also... Look for desert trumpet plants.. there is usually minerals nearby. And if you dug just a bit deeper you may have found Jimmie Hoffa! LOL

I was at the Mohave club claim, last October. This wash has been worked over in the past and I thought I'd give it a go. Hoffa LOL
