Black Smoker Concretions.

Things that don't glitter are sometimes Gold. I found the entire Washington coast was covered with these one morning at sunrise. You may have seen the Discovery Channel show. I found them. As soon as I saw them I went to my uncles store and got 35 milk crates to put them in. Only used 32. This size i sold for $15. I sorted them from $5 up. I honestly had no idea they were from offshore volcanoes but I knew i could sell them to antique shops and shell and rock shops and thats exactly where I went. The university of Washington told me they were between 90,000 and 120,000 years old for the most part but some were 250,000 year old. The 3 examples i donated back then were the physical evidence that was used to mount the sub expeditions that became the televised shows. Everything we know about Washington and Oregon underwater volcanoes and black smokers came from this finding and donation. Had i held those 32 crates until the submarine expeditions and shows the $5 and $10 pieces would have brought $200 and $300. This piece has two extinct clam species showing.
