Bill, BOOMING is when you have a power sluice and you draw water from a source such as a river and pump it to your highbanker/sluice on dry land. This allows you to exploit [make a pit, in this case] an area with water. You have water being pumped to your sluice. If you have a H.B./sluice/dredge combo, the water is also flowing into the "pit" or hole you have dug or suspect has gold, and it has a suction nozzle to suck the material from the hole up to your H.B. Any excess water should go to a holding pond to be naturally filtered back into the river or pond, preventing turbidity. In fact that is a law in several states, especially Califunya and Oregon.
In the area around the campground area it is very well posted that there is no motorized equipment allowed, so no there is no booming in the area I am working.
Too bad I was only limited to panning and sluicing, if I was able to do some booming there would be 10 times more! I will be heading back to my paystreak very soon...
