  • Bill, BOOMING is when you have a power sluice and you draw water from a source such as a river and pump it to your highbanker/sluice on dry land. This allows you to exploit [make a pit, in this case] an area with water. You have water being pumped to your sluice. If you have a H.B./sluice/dredge combo, the water is also flowing into the "pit" or hole you have dug or suspect has gold, and it has a suction nozzle to suck the material from the hole up to your H.B. Any excess water should go to a holding pond to be naturally filtered back into the river or pond, preventing turbidity. In fact that is a law in several states, especially Califunya and Oregon.
  • what is booming
  • No just out there with my wife.....There are lots of people that go to the Bear river for one reason, there is gold there...
  • Were you working with the East Bay Prospectors? I know they go to a campground on the Bear for a common funtime. Good people there.
  • In the area around the campground area it is very well posted that there is no motorized equipment allowed, so no there is no booming in the area I am working.
  • Don't they allow booming on the Bear? If you can boom the Klamath then...?
  • Too bad I was only limited to panning and sluicing, if I was able to do some booming there would be 10 times more! I will be heading back to my paystreak very soon...
  • no not bad at all
