Tombstone,AZ

Ed Schieffelin’s Tombstone. Founder of Tombstone, AZ. Soldiers on Fort Huachuca at the time (1877) told Ed every time he went out prospecting, “All he would find was his Tombstone!”, for more than one reason at the time this was true. Apache’s, rattlers, dehydration, injuries, etc.. Ed died broke and destitute and said he wanted a simple monument like is used to mark a claim and buried wearing his mining clothes and with his basic mining tools. The community responded in kind and then some building this monumental monument over his grave at the first place he camped in the area.
