Septarian Nodules are found 15 miles east of Zion Nat Park, along the Old Muddy creek. They were formed millions of years ago in an ancient sea floor. They have a siltstone (limestone) exterior with aragonite veining and calcite centers. Occasionally, a white crystal barite is mixed with the yellow calcite. Some of the nodules filled compeletly with calcite while others left hallows showing the beautiful tooth-like calcite crystals.
Septarian Nodules. My Girlfriend bought these for me from a rock shop just outside of Zion Nat Park. The rest I collected myself; mostly from N Arizona where I prospect for gold.
