  • You're right Dennis: There were a lot of mines that were shut down at the start of WWII, and never opened back up. I know of one mine that closed down, and some of the "old timers" that worked in it told me that there was a vein on the 500ft. level that ran 18oz per ton in gold. It was a shaft, and is flooded to within 10ft of the surface. It is patented ground, so I haven't messed with it.

  • John did you find any gold with the goldcube?

  • I hear ya, thats why I use a Dufflebag Backpack and have a Lot of Days of Just Walking around :) Find an Old Miners Cabin Look at the type of Rocks they Brought back this will give you an Idea of what to look for also,  Here's a Pic For ya 2960234783?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

  • Ty Dennis. What I did was plan 'B' for the day, as plan 'A' got borked as I had trouble getting my 2WD vehicle to the wash I planned to work in. Plan 'A' looked more like the kind of thing you wrote about. But I ended up where I ended up; pulled out a pair of divining rods and came up with another plan per my disposition at the time.

  • Why waist your time on Drywash Tailings ? You might do good on a Mine Tailing Pile but not Drywashers. Find yourself a ""Drywash"" (creek bed)  look for some Bedrock and work the Crackes with a Vac or a broom, walk the wash looking for Piles of Cobble and build up of Blk-Sands in low spots. if you have a Metal detector run it on the Side Cliffs in the wash, or My favorite Load Mines, Miners would pile up workable Ore to one side to work Later. Start at the Bottom of the Hill Sweeping with your MD. then use a Rake to Pull Down More Ore to MD. All mining was Closed Down during the War and never realy started back up. Check for Claims First and Discovery Markers Most Old ones are Wood next to a Pile of Rock Good Place to Start some one else found some thing there. Good Luck Dennis.
