Huge mystery rock

I went out detecting today for probably the last time this year and while searching the woods for a new cellar hole came across this. A massive bright shiny silver rock. At first I thought "why would someone spray paint a log silver" so I went for a closer look. It's definately rock as it has a quartz vein running through it. I put my machine on it for size and color contrast. Kinda neat and unexpected in the middle of nowhere.

Just dont tell me it's valuable cause there aint no getting that bad boy out of the woods lol.

  • Nice find Bob. I sure have some of these mysterious rocks that I want to know about them. I think it is Mica .

  • But I thought of petrified wood too spur, wouldn't that be cool!

  • found out what it is, It's mica shist.

  • At first I thought a big petrified Log but there's no Rings at the end so humm it does look like Schist or could be something from glaciers no it's Schist
  • The rock is a bit blue in those pics. I took a closer pic of a quartz vein in it that shows a closer match to actual color.
