Would you like to mine in Alaska?

Give your thoughts about mining in Alaska...for now we are talking about dredging in the waters of Alaska in the very wilds of Alaska.  Approximately 30 miles up the Wild Rivers of the 40 Mile Mining District of Alaska.

1.Do you like being away from the rest of the world/civilization/McDonalds/Telephones for extended periods of time( 2 weeks at a time)?

2.Can you handle sleeping in Tent?

3.What if you see a bear?

4.Do you get homesick?

5.If you get there and you dont like what you have found(staying out in the wilds of Alaska) are you going to demand to leave ASAP?

6.Can you survive without modern conviences of home?

7.Can you live on camp food?

8.What are your thoughts about mining in Alaska via dredging?

Answer this either to yourself or on here and we will try to address the issues you may have and help you decide if you should make the investment of time and money making this journey.  If you need help that is.......

  • As far as I think  as long as I can be dredging and finding gold, relaxing by a campfire after dredging during the day, sounds wonderful,

  • How much is the cost of your gold camp? My wife and I run a gold cube with a trommel attached, we've been looking into a trip up there for some chunkier gold than the fly poop we find here in Michigan
  • I've lived in Bush Alaska for the past 36 years, yes I can handle all of the above.

    • Hello everybody,

    • When are you wanting to come to Alaska?  What would you like you trip to be about?  Just share with me breifly you hopes and dreams of coming to Up to the 40 Mile and I will do my best to answer your concern?

We are in with www.goldfeverprospecting.net and he has package deals and we arent far from him.  Go look at his page and packages and tell me what you think?

Of course everything has a price including the price of ones time.  When we charge a price there are things involved in the price that a lot dont consider.  Dean Race has considered a lot when it comes to your comfort and well being.

We camp in a primitive campsite.  No real eminities of home.  Rough camping and we havent really put a price on taking to public out there because we havent gotten completely set up.  We are working hard at getting all the bugs out so that is why we would direct you to Dean Race's package deal.  Dean had mentioned to me he may need cook this year so I may be there at his site cooking.  And dredging somewhere close to his site. That has yet to be decided.

    • Hi Sharon,

it might not be this summer but in the next couple years for sure.  the hopes for my trip would be to have access to work the claims you have in that area be droped off and picked up at a point on the river and time pre aranged. I would like to prospect in the area with my family using my highbanker and sluice box. I did live in Alaska for several years and have been doing back country camping and hiking all my life.

      Thanks,

      Ashley

  • Sharon....I'm interested.  Is there a charge to participate?  Not being from Alaska I don't know where the 40 mile district is.

  • We love our Alaska..........you will too.  We dont want you to get somewhere you dont want to be.  Being alone is good.  Getting hurt and being alone is bad as you could lay there and die.  Here lately on the boob tube we have seen so many series like I shouldnt be alive, where experienced adventurist have been out there and gotten hurt badly and watched their companions and friend die before their very eyes.  It can happen even if you are experienced and it can happen if you are alone.  The difference is if you are alone out in the wilds of Alaska you may just lay there and rot till there is nothing but your bones left or you could lay there and pray nothing eats you before they find you or suffer agonizing death just laying there hurt, dying or dead.

There is so much to think about traveling alone although that will not prolong your life if God has decided it is your time to go, whether you are alone or not you're gonna die if God decides it is your time.  I know that as my late husband died in my arms March 10, 2007.  We were alone per say out on the top of Mount Witherspoon miles and hours from help of any kind and he had a massive heart attack in my arms.  God decide and staged that so perfectly and I have told part of this story on here already I just havent finished it.
