I’ve had a couple recently and one finally stepped up did the right thing refunded after realizing I wasn’t accepting a lack of communication and getting nothing for my money was not ok. 72 bucks returned.

I still haven’t been settled with another person and the blame was pushed on a company for not “shipping” a raffle prize, I finally emailed directly to ask if the company was going to be shipping out the “won” item and also asked if they had been paid on it as well. Come to find out they had “really have no idea of what he is doing. ” about the contest and or the prize. Messages just asking for updates go un replied too but read. And then there is excuses tossed out and then silence and all again.

So what’s your thoughts, should one be raffling off stuff they DONT EVEN HAVE?

how long should a winner wait to see their item? Is months acceptable before a item ships (or is still to be shipped?)

curious to see your thoughts on this, I’m publicly not saying a name or prize product company name, I will say it’s a sponsor here. But just curious until recently had nothing but great dealings with the prospecting community and I think I joined a group with some new school flakey or not so upfront people.

help with -100 mesh gold separationhttps://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/forum/topics/help-with-100-mesh-gold-separation2016-10-05T18:39:56.000Z2016-10-05T18:39:56.000ZTim A.https://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/members/TimA

This past weekend I found a new prospecting site. Test pans were giving me good gold so I dug 2 five gallon pails of sand to take home to work with. The Sand I took home is screened to 20 mesh. After testing 2 table spoons of the sand ( which is acting like clay) I could see hundreds of microscopic pieces of gold. I mean hundreds. -100, -200 I have no idea but they are small. I can not pan this stuff. I even tried my miller table ( video included)

Do you suggest classifying it down to a smaller mesh even more? I think this sand and gold are about the same size.

I need help! I have 10 gallons of this stuff and want the gold!

I went to a river today in a area know for gold, I done a few test pans and found nothing, just before giving up I used a Manual hand pump off the gravel of the river bed and I got loads of what looks like either Silver or Platinum

Important things to note is that I used a section hand pump and put the gravel into a garret pan, then transferred most of the material to a Banjo pan and in both instances this is what I got

No classifier was used

This material was at the top of the back pan where I would normally expect to see gold

Is it Platinum , silver, Palladium, any advice would be appreciated. Under a jewellers loop (40x Magnification) you can see the material is metallic and looks like shots of metal similar to when molten metal is poured into water

Not a trace of gold anywhere in this section of river.

I just recently got into gold prospecting and have been having a lot of fun just going out and playing with my pan. I recently built a bowl kind of like the blue bowl gold recovery but I was disappointed in the way it worked.

So my next project is going to be a miller table for my fines that I have recovered. I have researched them on google and other places and have seen many different ideas. Can anybody offer me some insight on the best materials to use? I have seen people have success with Easy Liner shelf liner as the bed, I have seen honed slate used as a bed and then I have seen the chalkboard painted on wood as a bed. Do any of these materials out perform the other or is it just trial and error?

I was going to try to use the backside of a piece of LVT as the base because it has a little bit of texture on it but the more I research the miller table I have seen beds that almost completely flat. Any ideas and suggestions would be great as I am a newbie and just trying to find something useful and make gold recovery even funner.

Platinum or not??https://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/forum/topics/platinum-or-not-12014-12-15T03:35:48.000Z2014-12-15T03:35:48.000ZNygoldhttps://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/members/Nygold
It reacts well to peroxide but iv never seen natural pt before has anyone else and dose it look like this??
image.jpg

Anyone know if this occurs naturally??https://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/forum/topics/anyone-know-if-this-occurs-naturally2015-02-02T22:34:37.000Z2015-02-02T22:34:37.000ZNygoldhttps://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/members/Nygold
Ok so I bought a crystal silver nugget from one of the guys I get big gold nuggets from and iv never had any issues but this is a silver crystal nugget with gold attached in two spots one a nice size pice looks to be about 1/2 gram but looking at it with my pocket microscope it looks like glue might be what has the gold attached but I can't tell for sure as the silver is so shiny it's hard to see so dose this occur naturally or is this just man made??
First of all, i have NO economic interest in these products. Just as a hobby prospector i like new good inventions and products. If this post is violating any rules i will delete it immediately it .

There is a brand new swedish matting system that just been launched.

I have just bought two strips of the goldowl matt system but havent tested it yet myself.

I took a good look at the matts and also saw it under live conditionds before i bought them.

A person i know use this matts and he is more than happy with it. As he said "i never seen that amount of fine gold in my cons before".

Waterwise it looks like it will do fine with about half what the equivalent hogmatt (ur? and razor?) requiers, that means it would do fine in a sluice even with a modest waterflow and all the way up to highbanker (what they used when i looked at the matts) and maybe also in a dredge with or without the addition of riffles in the locking profiles.

The matts have two different capture sides and are turneble as you like. There is a clever interlocking profile in aluminium that locks the matts together, and just securing them in each end with a flush scew.

The profile can also be used to secure diffrent sorts of riffles or even make a underflow system or securing the matts from below.

Her is my pics of the matts

On larger pieces I'm able to put on a good test "scratch" onto the ceramic then test for 10k, 14k, 18,, and 22k.

I've recently tried some testing on smaller mesh samples. They're too small to scratch on the ceramic plate so I use several of the pieces whole. Maybe about 4-5 times the size of morton salt. Around 20 mesh.

I notice on some that the 22k acid solution will bubble a bit and turn the sample black, is this normal?

And, the 18k acid solution might dull a sample but not turn it black, is this normal?

Here's a picture using a Celestron digital microscope. The solution is an acid testing for 18k. The scratch mark is a known 22k sample. They're two bits of #20 mesh. Notice that one is getting a little dull but remaining unchanged. The other sample next to it is turning black.

20 mesh sample test 1 w 18kt.JPG

Tweaking an A52 Keene sluice for fine gold and fine black sands?https://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/forum/topics/tweaking-an-a52-keene-sluice-for-fine-gold-and-fine-black-sands2014-07-23T23:03:49.000Z2014-07-23T23:03:49.000ZAlohaJimhttps://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/members/AlohaJim

Okay. I'm messing with my prospecting equipment again.

This time I'm tweaking my A52 Keene sluice for fine gold and fine black sands. The Bradshaw Mountains around Prescott, AZ are loaded with this stuff.

I tried replacing the carpet with that thick dark blue miner's moss stuff. The fine gold and ultra fine black sand just blows thru it and it also plugs up quickly if there's too much clays. Messed around with angles and flows, still the same.

I tried replacing the carpet with various types, ribbed, veranda, smooth, etc. The Veranda pattern, unbacked seems to provide enough room for the blacks and fines without washing out or plugging up.

Gold Hog matting seems okay but maybe works better without the riffles, but then how would I hold the matting in the sluice?

I've presently got it setup with half Veranda unbacked carpet and half ribbed, then expanded mesh then the riffle bar. Got to test that more.

Next up is vortex matting, the same type as in the Gold Cube which works great for fine gold and fine black sands. Any suggestions on how to keep it in the sluice without gluing it down if I use it without the riffle bar, or is it better with the riffle bar? With or without the expanded metal mesh?

(Sorry Doc!) but I took a 13" x72" dredge and turned it into a high banker believe it or not I found an 8000 GPH 12v pump I'm having trouble trying to figure out what matting or moss to use? I would like to get away from the metal riffles. And I'm tryin to keep my cost as low as I can! So if anyone has any ideas send them my way! Thanks guys

It was a fun mental exercise and I was wonder has anyone done anything like that here in NC? Would there be any regulations that would need to be taken into consideration? Like i said it was just a fun idea but having been a boat operator in the Navy, it has peaked my interest somewhat. Anybody have any thought?

160 Honda HELP!https://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/forum/topics/160-honda-help2014-02-05T19:36:43.000Z2014-02-05T19:36:43.000ZDave Mackenziehttps://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/members/DaveMackenzie

I know, I know... DRAIN your fuel system before you store your dredge motor for the winter! Not only the tank and sediment bowl, but run the motor dry of fuel in the lines also!! I can't be the only one with one of these trusty little engines that has had trouble with the consequences of not doing so. That said, I have gone through it, and have fresh gas in the tank and sediment bowl, have ran the engine by a squirt of fuel down the carb, but somewhere between the sediment bowl and the carb is still not co-operating as the motor starves out as soon as the fuel in the carb is used up. ( needle valve/float in sediment bowl IS working fine.) Please tell me there is a fairly simple fix for a guy with a decent amount of mechanical ability.

Bezel Locketshttps://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/forum/topics/bezel-lockets2014-06-20T03:13:18.000Z2014-06-20T03:13:18.000ZRich Cooleyhttps://www.goldprospectorsspace.com/members/RichCooley

Can anyone help me out with some information or a web site. I am looking for a bezel either heart shape or any design with a small vile to put gold inside. I see the regular bezel advertised but looking for something different. This is for my wife. I did here about a company called minerskeepers but got no response from them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and have a great day.
