My saturday June 20, 2015 at Bill's

The day started like it has all week, showers over nite and int the morning. These were not like any other day, these showers were from hurricane Bill. We went down to check on the equipment and everything was fine, so went to the tractor show in Bainbridge, then we stop on the way back to check again on the equipment. Everything was still fine so we went to the store, and in that short of time the water came down from Washington courthouse, the creek behind the motor home was ragging and had risen. So i ran down to check again and to my surprise everything was gone. We lost the 4" dredge, the higbanker / combo, 3 pumps, all of our pans, all the tools, a gas can full of gas, and a bucket full of cons loaded with gold, yes it had been classified and tested. So we lost about $5k worth of equipment and cons. I hope everyones Saturday was better then mine.....

  • Update : well I came home from the hospital on Monday after my recovery was going so well, they felt I would be alright at home. They set me up with home health care and my nurse came on Tuesday and to my surprise a home therapist came on Thursday and she like the therapist in the hospital was happy until I told her how I was feeling and then she asked about my exercises I was doing so I showed her the sheet they gave me when I was discharged. She looked it over and told me why I was feeling so bad and sore. It seems the paper was for when I had been home for two weeks and that I needed to stop all actives for a few days to see if that helped as that is why I was so sore, so it was back to bed for me again. So on Friday I had my urologist appointment to get my stint removed, and I was really looking forward to that. To my my surprise after looking at my x-rays for awhile his PA-C came in and sat next to me and informed me that I had a stone in my kidney and if they removed the stint it could cause rental failure plus they would have to check with my Cardiologist and surgon to figure out a plan. It seems when I do what I am told to do, I get dammed, and if I don't do what I am not supposed to do I get dammed. So I go back to him in another 4 weeks to see what they figured out, but in the mean time I shouldn't do very much. I just wish I could just get better so I can get back in the creek before something else goes wrong and I can't or I die trying. ..... I will keep everyone updated as I progress. .....
  • Sorry you had that happen to you and your families gear Mark my friend, I sure hope you will be able to get the pumps you found running again and be able to get the rest of your gear up and running again soon..

It is a good thing the weather that has been hitting us all day up this way is not down there as well.

Please be careful and nothing is more important then your safety.. I hope to see you guys before to long..

  • Well i dug one motor out of Ericas hole,it was burried pretty deep, one motor was flipped upside down and burried in the bank, the dredge frame and highbanker that i had tied together we found wrapped around some trees down stream. The highbanker is shaped like an "S" and the dredge frame was upside down, we had to fight the current and tie a rope to it and hook it to the atv and pulled it out upside down. I went down Friday and walked the creek and found the box for the dredge, so the only things missing in one leg for the highbanker, straighten it out, all our pans and buckets, and most of all our bucket of gold. Now I have to get the motors running so we are not done for the season.. Then the rains came Friday afternoon the the creek came up in a hurry and was 1' from coming out of the banks so again I had to rush to get everyting moved including the motor home before it all went down the river again. I just can't xatch a break....

  • How is the recovery coming Mark.? Hope your finding more of your gear.

  • good to know you are finding some stuff mark I am sure between us we will have pans and other stuff you might need

  • Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Sending you my hopes that you will recover the rest of your gear and that, at least some still works.

  • We have started the trek of going down stream looking for our equipment,we found the dredge frame and highbanker wrapped around a depree pile, the motor is buried under water and the highbanker is wedged between 2 trees. We found the pump for it buried in Erica's hole with just the foot valve sticking up. Still no pans or buckets, we haven't found the sluice box for the dredge yet. No pontoons yet either....

  • Sorry that happened. Hopefully you can find something and salvage it.
  • Wow Mark sorry to hear about that I seen the water come up there one time but it wasn't near that but it did come up quick. Hope you can recover your equipment man I feel for you guys.
