Where do I go in Alabama?

So I am wanting to go to Alabama to sluice and pan for gold but I am so confused about where I CAN do it. How can I find out if a creek is on private land or not? Any help would be appreciated. Just in case I would like to go down to Walnut Creek which is off the Coosa River in Al.

    The gold belt in Alabama is pretty much Talladega, Clay, Cleburne, Randolf, Coosa, and Tallapoosa counties. Not saying there isn't any gold at Walnut creek just letting you know where most has been found. The biggest nugget found in Alabama was 4 oz from Blue creek.
