Spanish gold mine in Fairview Utah

There's a guy on ksl.com advertising that needs help digging out an old spanish gold mine. Says he will provide food and lodging. Don't know what to think about it. Maybe I will have to give this guy a call in the morning. Sounds interesting, but may be too good to be true.

  • I received a call back from the owner of this mine and am planning on meeting him in the morning near Park City. He's the owner of the Josephina de la Martinique Mining company and will pay me 50$ an hour in gold, silver or gemstones. He said it would take 3-4 hours to dig out the entrance of a tunnel near another tunnel that produced some natural silver. These mines are historical and legendary. I'm so excited to take part.
    • Reuben, sound very interesting but be careful
And stay aware. Let us know how it goes.
  • Just be careful, if he asks for a cash stake, before you can work it RUN.   LOL

  • Left a message with the guy but haven't heard back. I was just down there last week at our family cabin that I helped build 7 years ago so I'm pretty familiar with the area. I never guessed there was a possibility of a gold mine in that area. The explorer Escalante was known to traveled from southern Utah and up through that area through spanish fork canyon where there is a historical marker at the mouth of the canyon. The lost Rhoades gold mine is rumored to be somewhere north quite a ways away. A lot of times the spanish explorers would make markings on trees or boulders so that they could find their way back to these remote locations. So it would be cool to find out more about this discovery for sure!
    • I have alittle about the lost Rhoads mine but not enough to be of much help.
As mentioned, be careful and stay safe.
  • I have one in Colorado I want to dig open. Was talkin to someone today about it. He might head up there soon to dig some on it. It's at 10,000 feet up so got to dig slow. May be worth going to have some fun digging on it. Free food and stuff so give it a try for a while.

  • Could be interesting, be careful
